How I fell in love with China π¨π³

Visiting China was one of the most incredible journeys of my life. From exploring ancient palaces to experiencing thrilling adventures in Zhangjiajie, and tasting authentic spicy hot pot meals, this trip offered a perfect blend of culture, nature, and friendship.
My journey began at one of the largest airports in China, where the scale and efficiency amazed me. The modern infrastructure set the tone for a country that beautifully combines tradition and innovation.During my trip, I stayed at the Lushan Hotel in Changsha, a city known for its rich history and vibrant culture. The hotel provided a peaceful and welcoming environment after busy days of sightseeing.
One of my first cultural experiences was visiting the Palace of the First King of China. Walking through the ancient halls, I felt the deep historical significance that makes China’s heritage so rich.In Jianghie, I found serenity among stunning natural landscapes. This peaceful area was perfect for slowing down and appreciating the beauty of rural China. The highlight of my trip was definitely Zhangjiajie, famous for its breathtaking mountains and thrilling activities. I crossed the iconic glass bridge, an exhilarating experience with incredible views. I also tried the zipline, flying over towering cliffs that looked like a scene from a movie.
An interesting cultural fact I learned in Zhangjiajie is that stepping on someone’s shoe means you like them a sweet tradition that made me smile and also holding hands means that you are a couple .Near Changsha, I hiked the beautiful Yuelu Mountain, known for its natural beauty and historical sites. I also visited Fenghuang Old Town, a charming ancient town with rivers, old buildings, and narrow streets that take you back in time.A visit to Shaoshan, the birthplace of Chairman Mao Zedong, gave me insight into China’s modern history and the legacy of one of its most important figures.
One unforgettable night was attending the Tianmen Fairy Fox Show, a spectacular cultural performance full of music, dance, and folklore. Later, I enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of a Fox Party night, with music, dancing, and joyful celebrations.Chinese cuisine is a major highlight of any trip, and the spicy hot pot meal I had was no exception. Sitting around the bubbling pot, cooking fresh ingredients, and sharing laughs with friends was a heartwarming experience.
Changsha’s nightlife is lively, with many restaurants, bars, and street food vendors to explore.Meeting Shaun, a friendly local who became my closest friend, was one of the best parts of my trip. Shaun showed me around the city, introduced me to local favorites, and shared his culture generously.Together, we enjoyed peaceful evenings by the lake at Wi Square in Changsha, especially beautiful at night with shimmering lights reflecting on the water. We also went fishing nearby, an activity that allowed me to connect with nature and relax. One memorable night, Shaun and I rode a scooter through the glowing streets a simple but magical moment I’ll never forget.
I also visited Hunan Vocational College, where I met talented young people pursuing their dreams with passion and skill. The Shangsha Museum showcased China’s rich cultural heritage, reinforcing the country’s commitment to preserving its history.
China is a country of contrasts ancient and modern, calm and vibrant. But more than the places, it’s the people who made my trip unforgettable. Their kindness, pride in their culture, and open hearts taught me that being yourself is the key to belonging.
And after that I was extremely sad to go return home
If you’re planning a trip to China, don’t miss these experiences from Zhangjiajie’s natural wonders to Changsha’s lively streets and rich history. And don’t forget to try the spicy hot pot it’s a delicious taste of Chinese tradition.
China will always hold a special place in my heart❤️
